Why is Aarti performed with camphor?

The smell of camphor travels quickly through the atmosphere. It brings in the positive energies of the universe. By Aarti, the way is paved for divine powers in the place of worship.

While carrying out the Aarti, one should carry out the Aarti of God with complete devotion and regard the light of ghee as the light of the soul. Devotees who remember God from within are called 'Panchrati'.

Aarti can be carried out once or five times daily.

Aarti is carried out twice at home, morning and evening.

According to Deep Bhakti Vigyan, before running Aarti, flowers should be given three times after greeting God. After that, three, five, or seven highlights should be lit keeping ghee in the lamp to perform the Aarti of God. Typically, the aarti executed with five to seven lights is called 'Panch Pradeep'.

After that, aarti is carried with the camphor. Camphor smoke spreads in the atmosphere and links devotees to cosmic power.

In particular in worship, Aarti can be done with five things first with incense, second with a lamp, third with camphor, fourth with a clean fabric, and fifth with water.

Method of doing Aarti

Aarti is to be carried out in such a manner that an Om-like figure is formed before God.

The number of aartis carried out for various divinities also varies. For instance, three or five times around Lord Shiva, four times around Lord Ganesh, and twelve times around Lord Vishnu. 14 times surrounding Rudra, 7 times surrounding Surya, and 7 times surrounding other Gods. And make it seven times.

Begin running aarti on your left side, then move towards the right side. This pattern must be repeated seven times. First the aarti should be turned twice around the feet of the Lord, four times.

Aarti must be executed seven times in a circular direction around the idol of the Lord, having gone once around the navel and face.

Aarti has also been mentioned in Padma Puran.

It has been told in the Puranas that aarti should be performed with kumkum, incense sticks, camphor, ghee, five or seven sandalwood lights, and cotton balls made of ghee, along with blowing conch shells and ringing bells.

After the Aarti is more, water should be offered in the Aarti plate when turning it, because of which the Aarti becomes calm.

When the aarti is completed, the aarti is offered to the right-hand devotees.

While taking the Aarti by all the devotees, turning their palms backward and bent, and they are applied on their forehead. It is thought that divine power is concealed in the flame of Aarti. Another belief is that a person gives up their evil deeds to God. His true purpose is to express love and commitment to God.
